I was one of the three Creatives that ran and won the BBH Global Western Union pitch. Western Union has 500,000+ retail outlets worldwide(more than McDonalds) but they needed to evolve as a digital-first brand. My art direction solution was simple, taking the Western Union brand colours (black and yellow), I wanted to make the black colour a "send" and the yellow colour a "receive". At the very heart of every piece of work sat the new logo we created. A digital app icon sitting at the heart of the transaction which became the line linking the "send" and "receive". Simple vector illustration gave the brand a modern, digital-first look to stand out from the clutter of Getty stock shot work that the category lived in. This pitch-winning work launched worldwide at the end of December 2019 and will touch every piece of communication globally.
